On Monday, during Senate Question Time, Senator Faruqi declared the Greens brought the "people's protest" into parliament after leading her Greens Senate colleagues in a walkout. "They are following the puppet master the US in not calling for a ceasefire and not condemning Israel," she said.Evacuations of injured people and foreign nationals from the Gaza Strip into Egypt have stopped since Israel's deadly attack on an ambulance on Saturday, and as strikes from Israel continue to hit refugee camps in the enclave."The time for action is now.
Don Farrell reiterated the government's previous comments about "Israel's right to defend itself", and echoed Foreign Minister Penny Wong, who argued it "mattered" how Israel did so and called it to abide by international law. Greens spokesperson for foreign affairs Jordan Steele-John said the Australian public had been let down by the government.
