After a week of deliberation, a Supreme Court jury is returning to hand down its verdicts in the murder trial of former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn .
The jury also heard it was an affair that had lasted more than a decade and had been concealed from Mr Hill’s friends and wife. Friends of Mr Hill told the court they were surprised to learn of Ms Clay’s existence, given his marriage of more than 50 years to Robyn Hill.In his statement to the court, Mr Hill’s friend Robin Ashlin wrote that "he nearly fell to the floor" when he learnt of the extent of the relationship.The court heard that at one point, Mr Hill told his wife Robyn about the affair and promised to break it off.
Though their versions of what happened differ – with prosecutors telling the court it was an intentional shot likely following the death of Mr Hill, and the defence arguing the gun was accidentally discharged, while Mr Hill's finger was on the trigger, during a struggle between Mr Hill and Mr Lynn.His 12-gauge Barathrum shotgun was tendered as evidence, but only after jurors were given a demonstration of how it works in Victoria's Supreme Court.
