A shortlist of five design teams has been announced, with the winning design expected to be selected this summer. The commission aims to submit a planning application by late 2026. The inquiry led by Sir Martin Moore-Bick concluded that the tower was clad in combustible products due to the 'systematic dishonesty' of companies manufacturing and selling the cladding and insulation. It stated that all the deaths were avoidable and that the residents of Grenfell Tower were 'badly failed' by authorities, either through incompetence or dishonesty and greed. The Crown Prosecution Service is currently examining potential criminal charges, with a final decision expected by the end of 2026.
