Louie Holmes was arrested for attempted robbery in Carlisle
Louie Holmes, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the offence at Carlisle Crown Court. The court heard that the 28-year-old was knocking on doors on Arnside Road in Carlisle on December 23 last year when he approached a man asking him if he was a parking attendant, where he stated he was not.
Holmes continued to approach the man and acted in an aggressive manner and became further aggregated when the man took a phone call. He ended his call and Holmes demanded to know who he was speaking to, before attempting to grab his phone and making several swings at the victim.Holmes then chased the man who ran away from him, before he assaulted the man at the front door of a property and continued to try and take his phone.
Whilst following him, the victim was on the phone to police, which meant officers could locate and arrest Holmes. Detective Constable Gaby Nicholson said: “Holme subject the victim to an unprovoked attack in attempts to take his mobile phone. “Thanks to the victim updating officers within our control room we were able to locate Holmes and arrest him. We take these offences extremely seriously, ensuring that individuals who carry out threatening behaviour are subject to robust investigation, and we will do everything we can to bring criminals to justice."
