SA border remains shut to Victorians but international students welcome | Sky News AustraliaSouth Australian Health Minister Stephen Wade has struggled to answer questions as to why international students will be allowed to enter the state to study but the border will remain shut to Melburnians. \n\nMr Wade said South Australia was allowing international students to enter the state to resume their studies because having foreign students in universities was “an extremely important industry for South Australia”.\n\n“It’s worth $2 billion a year to our economy, for every four students who come into South Australia, that’s another South Australian who gets a job,” he said. \n\nHe said the port of dispatch for the international students was Singapore. \n\n“The reality is, these students are coming from relatively low risk, low prevalence COVID-19 environments,” Mr Wade said. \n\nHowever, Mr Wade said the border would remain closed to Victorians. \n\n“Victorians is a different case in point when you’ve got 2,100 cases in the last week we’ll continue to maintain our border with Victoria until it’s safe to do so,” he said. \n\n“Melbourne has got 17,000 active cases.”\n\nThe Victorian State Government Health and Human Services released on Monday there were 7,474 active COVID-19 cases in Victoria. \n
