A groundbreaking Australian study aims to understand the root causes of sore throats in children and their seasonal variations
have taken the lead in attempting to develop a world-first vaccine to prevent Strep A, the leading cause of persistent sore throats in children.
Sharri Hazzard says her grandson Albert had a series of sore throats last year, with multiple rounds of antibiotics only providing short-term relief. "It's estimated about five per cent of people that go to their GP go there for a sore throat or go there for a diagnosis of a throat infection," said Professor Helen Marshall from South Australia's Women's and Children's Health Network.
