SAN DIEGO -- The Guardians have come to terms with switch-hitting first baseman Josh Bell on a two-year deal worth a reported $33 million, pending a physical.
Cleveland has been searching for power and production to help its offense, and Bell should help provide that. Just recently the Guardians swung and missed at first baseman Jose Abreu, who signed a three-year deal with Houston for an estimated $60 million. He rebounded in the postseason, hitting .250 with two homers and five RBI as the Padres advanced to the NLCS before losing to the Phillies.
In 2019 Bell had his best season, hitting .277 with 37 homers, 116 RBI and a .936 OPS for the Pirates. It was his first and only All-Star Game appearance.
