Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could set up a new MCU mutant who can join the next version of the team thanks to Star-Lord's story with Gamora.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 can continue the Marvel Cinematic Universe's mutant setup through Star-Lord's story. Peter Quill is once again set to play a central role in the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Building off the events of the last two Avengers films, Star-Lord is searching for Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 with hopes of rekindling their romance after her death.

Speculation has suggested that the Phase 5 movie could continue the MCU's X-Men setup in a variety of ways. Most of the theories connect High Evolutionary to the introduction of mutants, but Guardians of the Galaxy 3 could set up several other X-Men-related heroes and teams for the future.
Marvel Studios' first proper X-Men movie or TV show has yet to be announced, but the Multiverse Saga has already been used to introduce several mutants. Ms. Marvel teased Kamala Khan's mutant DNA, while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever confirmed Namor is a mutant. The multiverse was also used to bring back Professor X, and it will also explain Deadpool and Wolverine returning in Deadpool 3.
Kitty Pryde Can Help Lead Guardians of the Galaxy 4 Star-Lord and Kitty Pryde beginning a romantic relationship in the MCU could mean they are the leaders of Guardians of the Galaxy 4.
