The Guardians-Yankees game won't start at 7:07 p.m. due to rain, but there's been no decision on postponing the game.
NEW YORK -- Game 5 of the American League Championship Series scheduled for Monday at 7:07 p.m. is being delayed by the threat of rain.
The Guardians and Yankees have split the first four games of the series. The winner of Game 5 will advance to play Houston in the American League Championship Series starting Wednesday at Minute Maid Park. MLB and team officials were also talking about postponing the game and playing it Tuesday. If the game is rescheduled, it would probably be an afternoon start on Tuesday.
Aaron Civale is scheduled to face New York’s Jameson Taillon on Monday night. Cleveland manager Terry Francona said if the game is postponed and played on Tuesday, he would stay Civale, who has not started since Oct. 5. Ace Shane Bieber would be on three day’s rest, but Francona said that was not an option.During the regular season the Guardians were forced to play 12 doubleheaders -- 11 because of weather and another because of COVID.
