The family of a William Mainprize is urging the Australian government to step in and support the Japanese coastguard in its search for two missing Australians who were on board the doomed Gulf Livestock ship.

William Mainprize, 27, and Lukas Orda, 25, were two of 43 crew on board the ship when it disappeared off the Japanese coast last week. The Japanese Coast Guard on Wednesday downgraded its search for the ship’s crew, a decision William’s friend said was hugely disappointing. “I’m not 100 per cent sure why they have called off the search so early,” Mr Suttor told Sky News.

Australians mustn't 'bet everything on being saved by a medical miracle' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Andrew Bolt says the fact one of the “human guinea pigs” got sick in phase three trials of a potential coronavirus vaccine just shows Australians have to instead learn to live with the virus and not wait for what could be a false hope. \n\nTrials for one of the world’s most promising coronavirus vaccines, being developed by Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, has been suspended after a participant suffered and adverse reaction.\n\nMr Bolt said while the sick participant doesn't mean the end of the vaccine, and that even if this vaccine doesn't work, there are eight others in phase-three trials. \n\n'But, on the other hand, this is a big warning,' Mr Bolt said. \n\n'Surely it's clear now we cannot bet everything on being saved within months by a medical miracle.\n\n'It would be a miracle, because no vaccine has yet been discovered for any coronavirus, and this one, even if it works, could work only partially like the flu vaccine.\n\n'So yes, go ahead, hope for the best, but plan for disappointment. Be more realistic.\n\n'Which means for us, ending this stupid fantasy that we can live like this until the vaccine does finally come.\n\n'We have to instead learn to live with this virus.'\n\nImage: AP \n

Andrews flags two-step reopening leap for Regional Victoria | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews has flagged the possible easing of restrictions for regional Victoria as cases outside of metropolitan Melbourne remain consistently low.\n \nMr Andrews revealed Melbourne’s average daily caseload was 70.1, while the average in regional Victoria sat at only 4.5, suggesting the state's regions could see restrictions ease beyond the first step and immediately to the second step of reopening.\n \n“What that shows us is that regional Victoria is quite close to being able to take perhaps not just one step, but two,” he said. \n \n“We have to be heavily caveated in terms of that.\n \n”We need to make sure that we continue that trend going forward but we're confident that those numbers are low and getting lower and that means there will be an opportunity for us quite soon to take a step or steps towards that COVID normal for regional Victoria.”\n \nThe state recorded 51 new cases overnight with zero new infections recorded in regional areas, leaving the regional active caseload at 72.\n \nImage: Getty

Boot these idiots out. Send them a message that we want sound policy that doesn’t drive us mad.\n\n“This is not the Australia we have come to cherish and love. You can sense the anger rising.
