“He feels very sorry for anyone who passed away, but he is taking the case very seriously and is very distraught by this situation,” Parrish said. Investigators found multiple shell casings — one of which likely came from a round that struck Mefford, the prosecutor said. The prosecutor took exception to Judge Robert Johnson's ruling that Lewis qualified for indigent defense. Financial affidavits he filled out in court Friday and after his arrest contradicted each other. The earlier document said he worked full time as a dog breeder, lived at an apartment and that he had some money.
