Gunman wearing scrubs fatally shoots person in Philadelphia hospital

The suspect was hospitalized after a gun battle with police officers shortly after the shooting at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

A gunman has been arrested after fatally shooting someone inside a Philadelphia hospital early Monday.

The shooting occurred about 12.15 a.m. inside Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the 100 block of S. 11th Street in Center City, WPVI reported. A man wearing blue scrubs, a mask and a black backpack shot a person on the 9th floor of the hospital, police told the station, before fleeing in a U-Haul.Police tracked the suspect to the city's Parkside section where a gun battle broke out. The suspect shot two officers and was then shot when one of the officers returned fire, police said.The suspect, who has not been named, was also hospitalized.This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
