The Australian debut of the luxury brand is a way for the developer to boost the value of the 950 apartments for sale on the Surfers Paradise site.

Financial Review Rich Lister Tim Gurner and joint venture partner Wingate will boast Australia’s first St Regis luxury hotel after securing agreement with operator Marriott to include the brand in their $1.7 billion La Pelago Gold Coast development.

Australia’s first St Regis-branded hotel will take up 185 rooms in the first tower in the $1.7 billion La Pelago project at 112 Ferny Avenue in Surfers Paradise. There are just 49 resorts and hotels around the world operating under Marriott’s St Regis brand and this latest venue will be Marriott’s third in Gold Coast, after the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa and Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Gold Coast.
