Blame the the lack of back slits on the Goop founder's vintage Valentino for her bizarre shuffle to the stage at Sunday's Emmy Awards.
If you were baffled by Gwyneth Paltrow’s weird walk on stage during Sunday’s Emmys, you certainly weren’t alone. The bizarre shuffle was the talk of Twitter during the telecast — and now we know what was slowing her stride.
“That’s because in 1963 there were no back slits!” Saltzman said of the black-and-white dress that boasted sleeves that extended to the floor. “It was not that she was having this fabulous walk, which she already has. In order to keep the dress authentic, I didn’t want to change Mr. Valentino’s design.”
