As bushfires raged in catastrophic conditions across parts of South Australia on Friday, hail began to fall over Adelaide's suburbs bringing with it some relief but also high wind gusts.
People who had been evacuated to Balhannah Oval during the day due to the Cudlee Creek fire had to then brave the storm as it came over the top of them.
Some of the rain was heavy and hit areas near the fire front, but wind gusts of over 100kph could be expected. The storms also rolled in after an oppressive day where temperature records across the state were smashed.
