Hailey Hardesty’s career trajectory has coincided with the rise of Morgan Township, which won its first sectional title on Saturday.
Morgan Township’s Hailey Hardesty was talking about her team. But the senior forward could’ve been talking about herself too. “We’ve improved so much in these past four years,” she said. “It’s been so good for us to go from winning just one game to winning a sectional title.” Hardesty’s career trajectory has coincided with the rise of Morgan Township, which won its first sectional championship on Saturday with a 3-1 victory against Washington Township in the Class 1A Kouts Sectional final.
But that was enough to make Hardesty think she could flourish offensively. “I had to work on it,” she said. “It was mainly about trapping the ball and learning where to position your foot to shoot.” Hardesty had a breakout junior season, scoring 37 goals. Morgan Township also improved significantly, finishing 10-5-2 after losing to Kouts in a sectional championship game. That loss, which went to penalty kicks, sent Hardesty and her teammates back to work ahead of this season.
