Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street scream queens Jamie Lee Curtis, Danielle Harris, Scout Taylor-Compton, Heather Langenkamp, and Amanda Wyss took a once-in-a-lifetime photo together this week. Langenkamp is best known for her role as Nancy Thompson in 1984's slasher classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, which she reprised twice in 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and 1994's Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In the Halloween franchise, Curtis is the primary Final Girl, having squared off against the masked killer Michael Myers 6 times since her debut in 1978's Halloween, with one final battle coming when Halloween Ends debuts in theaters on October 14. Her character Laurie Strode was played by Taylor-Compton in Rob Zombie's 2007 remake and his 2009 follow-up Halloween II before Curtis returned to the role in Blumhouse's new trilogy, which began in 2018.
Why Did Halloween and Elm Street Never Have a Crossover? This photo has already reignited fan demand for a crossover between the Halloween and Elm Street franchises. There is precedent for such a thing, as the Elm Street franchise previously crossed over with Friday the 13th in 2003's Freddy vs. Jason. However, this was largely possible because New Line Entertainment owned both franchises at the time.
Another factor that will likely prevent Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street from crossing over is the fact that most of the stewards of the former franchise prefer to maintain Michael Myers status as the progenitor of the 1980s slasher movement.
