Victorian emergency services have warned Halls Gap residents to leave immediately and holiday-makers to stay away, with a fire in the Grampians almost tripling in size in the past 24 hours.
About 400 firefighters are working to fight the blaze, with more than 100 tankers, 25 aircraft and other heavy machinery.
He said the town would be under threat today, due to southerly winds pushing the fire closer to Halls Gap. Mr Slijepcevic said yesterday's cool change had not boosted hopes that the fire would be brought under control.
