Iran's supreme leader vows vengeance for the strike that killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who has been farewelled by thousands in a funeral procession in Doha.
A funeral procession has been held for assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh , who was killed in Tehran .The US and UN Security Council have called for a de-escalation of tensions amid escalating concerns of a wider regional conflict being sparked by Haniyeh's death.
The caskets, with a black-and-white pattern resembling a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf, were borne on a flower-bedecked truck through leafy streets where cooling water mists sprayed the flag-waving crowds. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the strikes in Tehran and Beirut represented a "dangerous escalation".
Hamas has for months been indirectly negotiating a truce and hostage-prisoner exchange deal with Israel, with Egypt, Qatar and the United States facilitating the talks.
