The operator of Queensland's iconic tourism haven Hamilton Island has short-changed its staff to the tune of nearly $30m, the ombudsman has found.

The Fair Work Ombudsman's investigation, which began in 2020, found 2,152 current and former salaried employees were not paid correctly between December 2014 and the end of 2022.The company is also required to implement a range of workplace changes, including an independent audit of salaried workers.
