Hammerson PLC (HMSO.LN) said Monday that it swung to a loss in 2018, citing a difficult operating environment. The retail property company said that for the year ended Dec. 31, it posted a pretax loss of 266.7 million pounds ($348.0 million) compared with a GBP413.4 million profit the year before. The company said tenant failures and structural shift in retail, among other things, helped create an environment which put pressure on property values.
