Allowances must be made
The Google Pixel 8 matches most but not all of the Pro model's major updates. It has a slightly refreshed look and the new Tensor G3, but it doesn't really move the needle on camera hardware, while the Pro is starting to push the limit on pixel counts. But it's far more affordable than the Pro , and given its size, AI capabilities, looks, and price, it might be a value winner for Google.
And there's something to owning a much lighter and more pocketable Android phone that still manages to pack in an impressively large battery and virtually match the larger phone's promised battery life. It feels great in the hand, even if it did get just a tiny bit thicker. Compare this phone to the ample specs of the Pixel 8 Pro, which is 162.6mm tall, 76.5mm wide and 8.8mm thick, and weighs 213g.
The new Magic Editor is an evolution of Google's Magic Eraser tool. It lets you tap and drag on subject in a photo to move it, with the AI processing intelligently filling in the space where the subject was.
