Michael Gudinski says the return of big stadium concerts are a long way off but artists, venues and promoters will find ways to let the music play.

Within the confines of Melbourne’s lockdown, great music is just waiting to get out.

“The positive is that when we start slowly coming out of it, it will give great Australian acts a chance to shine. Music isn’t just about number-one artists and pop artists or big alternative artists. There are so many different styles of music that can work under different circumstances. There will be a way out.

Rock band DMA's played 18 socially-distanced shows over nine nights at Marrickville's Factory Theatre Throughout the pandemic, Gudinski has had more insight than most into Premier Daniel Andrews, the man ultimately responsible for the breadth and duration of Victoria’s lockdown measures. Although Melbourne and Victoria are a long way from Hyperfine, Gudinski has regained his optimism after, by his own description, spending the first two weeks of Melbourne’s initial lockdown under the sheets in a state of panic.
