King Charles is reportedly displeased that his son Prince Harry and daughter-in-law Meghan Markle continue to use their Duke and Duchess titles while rubbing shoulders with celebrities and pursuing commercial deals.
The couple officially left the royal family in January 2020 to move to California and while they were stripped of their His and Her Royal Highness titles, the couple retained the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex granted by the late Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding.
According to Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, Charles is unhappy with how the Sussexes move around celebrity circles while trying to cling onto their royal status. "The whole emphasis between King Charles and Prince William is that you cannot go against the late Queen's firm belief that you can't be a part-time royal,” he told the same newspaper.
Last month, Prince Harry and Meghan also joined Yellowstone star Kevin Costner at a charity fundraiser the movie star hosted on a polo field located on the grounds of his lavish Santa Barbara estate.
