Melbourne Storm captain Harry Grant plans to activate a contract clause before November 1 and test his value in the NRL free agent market. Despite Storm interest in a long-term extension, several clubs are expected to pursue the hooker, who has ruled out Perth because he wants former teammate Tyran Wishart to succeed at the Bears. Melbourne is also facing uncertainty over Cameron Munster's future and head coach Craig Bellamy's position following a disappointing season.

In further news that will horrify Storm fans, Grant intends to exercise that clause and join the likes of Sam Walker, Latrell Mitchell and potentially Nathan Cleary on the open market. While Melbourne believe they’ll be able to sign their skipper to an extension and keep him at the club long-term, there will be plenty of cashed up clubs who will prepare a pitch for Grant.
CODE have revealed that Grant have ruled out Perth as a potential destination in order to let good friend and former teammate Tyran Wishart thrive. Wishart has joined the Bears on a multi-year deal and is expected to be the club’s No. 9 to begin next season. The Storm are in an uncertain position at the moment after coming off a wildly disappointing season where they missed the finals for the first time in 16 years.
In addition, Cam Munster will test his worth in free agency while coach Craig Bellamy’s future at the club is uncertain as well.
