New York’s highest court has overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction, finding that the judge at the landmark #MeToo trial prejudiced the ex-movie mogul with improper rulings.
The ruling said that this meant Weinstein was tried on past behaviour, rather than solely on the crimes he was charged with. Weinstein, 72, has been serving a 23-year sentence in a New York prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences.
