AFL: David King believes there is more controversy to come, despite Charlie Cameron and Toby Bedford having their bans overturned.
AFL football operations boss Laura Kane has reiterated the league’s “disappointment” with the Appeals Board overturning this week’s controversial cases on a “ legal technicality ,” vowing the league’s commitment to player health and safety.
She asserted the AFL would continue to work with clubs and the wider football community to ensure it’s clear what is and isn’t considered a legal tackle moving forward. “We need to make sure people understand what we mean when we say a safe tackle or a tackle that doesn’t constitute rough conduct, there are plenty of examples.
Kane sad she understood the query and confirmed she’d met with AFLPA acting CEO Regan Bunny to ensure they were on the same page.“I understand the query and comments ... I talked to about that yesterday,” she added.
