the Guardians best starter, allowed a career-high 12 hits in Tuesday’s 8-3 loss to a White Sox team trying to save its season. Chicago had 16 hits, including three home runs. The Guardians had nine hits, including seven singles.
Josh Bell gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead with a double in the first inning. He delivered the Guards second and final run with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. What the Guardians haven’t seen is a lot of power. The double in the first inning was Bell’s first extra base hit in the last 15 games. He has three homers, the last coming on April 29.
Plus, he’s not catching that well. Speed is a big part of Cleveland’s offense. They rank second in the American League with 43 steals in 50 attempts. But that advantage has been negated because the opposition has stolen 45 bases in 51 attempts. Chicago’s 28 hits in the first two games of the series are the most the Guards have allowed in consecutive games this season.
