After months of tense negotiations, the Greens have agreed to support Labor’s $10bn Housing Australia Future Fund bill.
And while the minor party are claiming victory on securing an extra $3bn for community housing, there is nothing additional for renters. Chief Political correspondent for Guardian Australia, Paul Karp, tells Jane Lee why the Greens did a deal with Labor and how they are still chasing renters’ votes

Labor wins Greens’ support for $10 billion Housing Australia Future FundThe Albanese government has finally won the Greens' support to pass its housing fund. Labor’s $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund is set to pass through parliament this week. The Greens have also backed down from demands for a national rent freeze. The Greens have agreed to support the housing bill proposed by the Labor government. ‘Only the Greens are fighting for renters’: Adam Bandt on proposed rent freezesGreens Leader Adam Bandt says all the pain of increased interest rates gets “passed on the renters”.
