Parents at a Flemington childcare co-operative have been waiting four days for advice on whether families should quarantine or get tested

Parents at a Flemington childcare co-operative have been waiting four days for official advice from health authorities after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 just days after working at the centre.

Waiting game: Caitlyn and her daughter Norah have received no information about the COVID-19 risk to Norah's childcare centre. The case mirrors the delays some schools have reported in getting information from the Department of Health and Human Services on how to handle outbreaks, including whether staff and students should quarantine themselves.

Ms Kavoukas said the Department of Education and Training had told her she would need to "deep clean" the centre before it reopened. Caitlyn Robertson, whose daughter Norah attends the centre, said she understood DHHS was overwhelmed but said parents couldn't make informed decisions without timely information."I do really sympathise with them [DHHS] – they're under a lot of pressure and we all understand that the people in the flats need to take precedence, but it would be nice to have at least some communication.
