Hawthorn forward Sam Butler will be sidelined for the rest of the 2024 season after he suffered a horror leg fracture in the VFL on Sunday.
A battered Hawthorn has received another serious injury blow with a promising forward ruled out for the rest of the season.
Hawthorn football boss Rob McCartney said he was “extremely confident” the former No. 23 pick would make a full recovery. “While Sam’s injury yesterday was serious, I’m pleased to report that his surgery today was a success,” McCartney said. “Sam is a much loved member of our playing group and his teammates are rallying closely around him. We will all be there to support him through this.”
