Hawthorn star Jonathon Patton has been stood down "from all club commitments" as the Hawks investigate claims of sending unsolicited sexual messages to multiple women.

The Hawks were already investigating the complaints but released a statement on Monday night that they were taking further action. "Hawthorn Football Club has stood down Jonathon Patton from all club commitments until the completion of its investigation into allegations of Patton's inappropriate behaviour on social media," it read.

"The club's Integrity Committee met this afternoon and will continue to ascertain all relevant information."The club will provide a further update at the completion of the investigation and asks that the privacy of all parties involved be respected at this time."The club was already investigating a complaint before two additional women came forward in recent days to allege inappropriate messages from Patton.
