The inmate was shot as he tried to flee the emergency room. Medical staff started life-saving measures immediately but he succumbed to his injuries.
HAYS COUNTY, Texas — A Hays County Jail inmate was receiving medical attention at Seton Hospital in Kyle, Texas, when he tried to escape, police say. He assaulted the corrections officer who was guarding him and fled on foot through the emergency room. The officer shot the inmate.The inmate was in Hays County Jail for the following charges: Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicles; Bail Jumping; Fail to Appear; Reckless Driving; Criminal Mischief; and Evading Arrest and Detention.
Texas Rangers were called to the scene to assist. Investigation reviews remains active. Further details will be released at a later time.
