Martin - uncle to Richmond Tigers triple premiership player Dustin Martin - is set to be deported to New Zealand after Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil cancelled his visa on character grounds, according to The Age.It is understood Martin was detained by immigration on Tuesday and is awaiting voluntary removal or deportation.
"I haven’t spoken to Mr Martin about this, but I believe the government has made a mistake with this decision,” Ms Thorpe said.“We’ve already seen the High Court rule in 2020 that the Commonwealth lacks constitutional power to deport First Peoples under the Migration Act.
