A video of a NSW Rural Fire Service member declaring that Scott Morrison is 'not my Prime Minister' has attracted online attention, but the Liberal leader says the firefighter’s comment simply referenced the fact that she is British.
While the video of Jacqui has been shared widely by Australians frustrated with Morrison's leadership, Mr Morrison said that Jacqui's comments were simply a joke.
"As Jacqui joked with me yesterday, I'm not her PM, because she's British, Boris Johnson is," Mr Morrison tweeted this morning. Associated Press footage of a later point in the conversation appears to show Jacqui telling Morrison"I've been here fifteen years." Indeed, as Jacqui joked with me yesterday, I’m not her PM, because she’s British, Boris Johnson is. But with local MP Andrew Gee, we made a decent pitch for her to become an Aussie yesterday. She & the other RFS volunteers have been doing an incredible job battling these blazes.
