The easier one is the connection to the sculpture and the architecture of the clothes, and the way that they hug or augment the anatomy.

The second part [of the synergy] is the meaningful part: Who is in the cast and why? And what does it mean to be sexy today and confident today? How do we express our gender? How do we love our curves? As I got to be a more astute student of his, and I was able to watch all the DVDs that we have—you just see the types of beauty that he was channeling.

Our first meeting was in person and it was highly organized. That’s when we were able to look each other in the eye, to chat, and to talk about what’s important today, and what’s the future of the house. I walked away with this amazing sense of relief and connection and I think that was the game changer. What was important for me [about our meeting] was that it ended with a hug and a smile.
