Leigh Road has been partially closed due to the collapse
The owners of a brand new African restaurant in Leigh say they are heartbroken after the front of their building caved in just weeks after opening.
Speaking about the incident, director of Taste of Africana, Cynthia Chinule said: "It has affected us greatly, we are a new business and we have gained a lot of customers in a short time which is like three weeks. People love our food and we have had loads of people who have heard of us through reviews. It’s really disappointing to them and really disappointing to us because its a new business and this is huge investment for us.
Zana Mohammedi is the manager of Antalya Barbers which is next door to Taste Africana. His barbershop is still open having escaped the damage but he says he has seen a reduction in business due to the partial road closure and is scared for the future as questions about the strength of the building which connect a row of shops on Leigh Road.
On Facebook they said the group said: Following last night's structural collapse on Leigh road, we have been in contact with council officers who have been working with property owners, occupants and planning enforcement to get the situation resolved.
