Kris Marshall, who plays DI Humphrey Goodman in Beyond Paradise, has spoken about his reluctance to engage in fan selfies, revealing a deeply personal reason behind the decision
Fans of the popular TV series Beyond Paradise are familiar with Kris Marshall for his role as DI Humphrey Goodman.
However, off-screen, the beloved actor has revealed a poignant reason behind his reluctance to indulge in fan requests for selfies. In an interview with The Mirror, Kris opened up about the challenges of fame and the impact it has had on his personal life. Despite his affable demeanour, Kris confessed to feeling uncomfortable with the intrusive nature of celebrity culture, particularly when it comes to interactions with fans.
"That’s because when my son was about two, we were on a pier and I stopped to do a picture and he ran off. I couldn’t find him and I was so stressed. So if I’m alone, with my wife, with friends, no problem. If I’m with the kids, I can’t. I need to keep hold of them." Despite his status as a public figure, Kris emphasises the importance of maintaining a sense of normalcy and protecting his family from the potential risks associated with fame. Kris married his wife Hannah Dodkin in 2012, and the couple live in Bath with their son, Thomas and daughter, Elsie.
