'Someone told me that my parents’ shop was the focal point of the community. Everyone knew the shop and everyone came in. People would stop at the shop and have a chat'
Tributes have been made to a devoted grandmother who ran a shop for more than 20 years that was ‘the focal point of the community’.
Her son, Pete Nowell, said: “She was driven and very family orientated. She had lots of friends and she was a very sociable person. She was very keen on gardening and weekends away. The beloved grandmother-of-three enjoyed holidays in a caravan with her grandchildren and loved taking them out for meals.
Tenerife was Anne’s favourite place to travel. In her youth, she went to Tenerife to see her friend who had an apartment there. She drove around Europe with Barry and enjoyed adventures in Ireland where she admired the culture, lifestyle and music.
