'We have received £234,000 to deliver the programme'
A hectic eight days of activities will be held in Rossendale over Easter as 3,000 places are available on the Rossendale Holiday Activities and Food Programme, HAF.
HAF Co-ordinator Paul Gallagher said: “We have received £234,000 to deliver the programme for this year for eight days over Easter, 16 days over the summer and four days during the Christmas holidays. "These activities are targeted at children who are in receipt of free school meals from Reception age through to Year 11 and we provide primary, secondary and Specials Educational Needs and Disabilities specific activities.
At Easter, several new providers have come on board including West Freestyle Martial Arts, which recently started holding after school clubs, Jackson’s Boxing from Bacup, and Fusion Dance and Fitness in Weir.There is also a popular Project Youth make-up course designed for high school students. Paul said: “Over Easter, activities will be held in 22 different venues from Haslingden through to Whitworth so they are as local as possible for the participants.
"We are also introducing Junior Gym which will be held at the three Rossendale Leisure Trust gyms at Pioneer in Bacup, Marl Pits in Rawtenstall and the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden.For more information on rltrust.co.uk/community/haf/
