Highlanders wrap up their first CIF volleyball title in five seasons, downing Holtville in four sets for Division III crown at Westview High
Helix High, the No. 3 seed in the San Diego Section Division III girls volleyball playoffs, now has a second CIF crown after upending No. 1 Holtville 25-21, 24-26, 25-11, 25-21 in the finals Friday night at Westview High.
Kamryn Walker led Holtville with 15 kills, followed by Jasmine Garewall’s 10 kills and Skylar Hanson with four kills. Guarnotta led Helix with four kills and a block in the set to go with Giordano’s two kills and two blocks.Down 7-3, Helix responded with nine consecutive points to grab a 12-7 lead, but Holtville used a 5-0 run to retake the lead at 17-14.
The Highlanders were never threatened in that set, leading 20-9 before clinching the set on Miles’ kill.
