Passing along advice from my therapist: Your husband is stuck and only he can unstick himself. There are things in his past that caused this, but something in this posture is serving him currently. I don’t know what it is, because I don’t know him. But when I had a friend who was in a similarly stuck place, I was able to step back and see how these attitudes were self-protective for him.
