Bairnsdale stock agent Brad Obst has called on the Australian public to "remember" to visit the East Gippsland region when the bushfire crisis ends, saying "it's the best way to help the farmers". The Victorian region has been ravaged by devastating bushfires this season as firefighters continue to battle a number of dangerous blazes in various suburbs.

On Wednesday, Emergency commissioner Andrew Crisp said 500,000 hectares burnt across Victoria, mostly in the East Gippsland. He said the Australian Defence Force will deploy two Black Hawks and two large Chinooks helicopters to help with the fire effort. "Just remember when it’s all done a dusted, East Gippsland’s a fantastic place to holiday and we produce some magnificent produce up here with meat and veggies," Mr Obst told Sky News.
