Well, we made it to the end of the Grammy eligibility year without a surprise release from Grammy darling Adele, whose last two albums won album of the year, or Beyoncé or Kendrick Lamar, who are overdue for a win in that category. The Recording Academy’s bombshell announcement in April that it is disbanding its nominations review committees means that this will be the first time in 27 years that voting members will have the final say on the nominations in the Big Four categories: album, record and song of the year plus best new artist.
