Here's how this family run cafe became one of Glasgow's top rated spots 🍴
Sat proudly amongst some of the city’s finest restaurants in a list of Tripadvisor’s top-rated Glasgow eateries is an unassuming Southside cafe which has come to mean so much more than a day job to its owners since opening in 2015.
In 2014, feeling mutually unsatisfied in their careers and yearning for a change of scene, the pair made the bold choice to invest in a venture which would soon lead to a whole new way of life.“In my youth, I saw them as magical mini restaurants that you could go to without your folks. These days, hearty offerings like stew , belly-busting baguettes and plenty of sweet treats from Anne are what have earned the cafe countless five-star reviews with people travelling across the country to experience the magic of Soup’s On and the cake lady for themselves.Pete said: “We always had a lot of regulars who lived locally, but it was around covid time that things really changed.
The bonds Pete and Anne formed with their local community have never been stronger than one year ago as they welcomed a new junior member to the Soup’s On team with the birth of their first child, Penny. “Building such good relationships with our regulars made having her even more special and really added to the friendly atmosphere at the cafe.”
