Unless far-right Republicans in the GOP-controlled U.S. House drop their demand for deep spending cuts in the federal budget, a government shutdown will start just after midnight on Sunday.
A shutdown also could have far-reaching effects on Americans who rely on certain federal government services.How many federal workers will lose their paychecks across the region? Employees deemed “essential,” such as air traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration workers, will be expected to work without pay.
Republican Rep. Lloyd Smucker has 8,564 in the 11th Congressional District and Republican Rep. John Joyce has 9,418 in the 13th Congressional District.
