U.S. stocks have set a string of records heading into the Christmas and the New Year holidays, giving investors a lot to cheer about over the coming break.
Christmas Eve is Tuesday, when the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will end trading at 1 p.m. Eastern time, while the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association recommends a 2 p.m. Eastern close for trading in bonds, including the 10-year Treasury note TMUBMUSD10Y, -0.27% . The London Stock Exchange closes at 12:30 p.m. local time Tuesday and stays shuttered up to December 27.This December, Wall Street already has seen many records, with the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.49%, Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.28% and Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +0.42% each touching all-time highs again on Friday, as investors shrugged off President Donald Trump’s impeachment and counted gains for the year of more than 28%, 22% and 36%, respectively, for each benchmark.
