Petty Officer Beiret Bureerak, who helped save 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped in a cave, has tragically died of an infection linked to the rescue operation.
Nineteen divers helped to escort the final members from the cave after the tough and dangerous rescue.

“Those who had been inside the flooded tunnels knew there was no way a child who had never dived before could make it through the muddy and treacherous obstacle course. “The only hope was to sedate them, put oxygen-fed masks with silicone seals over their faces and let the expert cave divers carry them out,” Cochrane wrote.Australian of the Year 2019: Thai cave heroes make history
