The game's director has spoken a little about the decision to surprise release Hi-Fi Rush, explaining that the team felt that the kind of viral positivity and word of mouth spreading internally at Bethesda around the game could be replicated on a global scale, which would likely serve it better than a traditional extended marketing cycle given the nature of the game.
."There's this weird sort of viral positivity to this just playing this game, and Game Pass just felt like an excellent opportunity to let something...lose that scepticism immediately by just playing it and people just talking about it.
