Football Insider sources reveal Hibernian are keen on signing Will Fish permanently this summer after his impressive loan spell this season.
Hibernian are planning to sign Man United loanee Will Fish permanently this summer,The 20-year-old centre-back joined the Scottish side on a season-long loan last summer and has impressed staff at the Edinburgh club during his temporary stay.
Hibs are now keen to tie Fish down to a permanent deal, but the Red Devils value the young defender highly and it remains to be seen if United would consider selling at the end of the season. Fish has become a regular in Lee Johnson’s side in recent weeks, starting seven consecutive games for the Edinburgh outfit.has made 12 appearances across all competitions and chipped in with two goals to help Hibs solidify their third-place position in the Scottish Premiership.
After starting his youth career with Man United, Fish made a solitary first-team appearance for the Red Devils in the final game of hte 2020/21 season, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him his debut in a 2-1 win over Wolves. However, Solskjaer found no space for Fish in the first team the following season, and instead the centre-back was shipped out on loan to Stockport County.
Fish endured a miserable loan stint with the League Two club, making just two appearances for the side throughout his stay which forced United into recalling him in January. His Three Lions career started in 2019 with the Under-17s, but Fish has worked his way up and most recently appeared in the Under-19s side in 2021.
